Shirley Hambrick-Paul 1936-2013


MRS. SHIRLEY WRIGHT HAMBRICK-PAUL, age 76, of Byron, GA, died Monday, March 18, 2013, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, March 20, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Jack Lee officiating, with interment in Plainfield Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday, March 22, at 11:00AM.

Mrs. Hambrick-Paul was born in Dodge County, of the Baptist faith, and was a 20 year retired paraprofessional at Winship Magnet Elementary School in Macon.  She enjoyed her time at Pine Gate Retirement Community and was well known as Mama Hambrick from her years at the Bibb Skating Rink.  She was daughter of the late Missie Lee Wright and James Bertrue Wright.

Carrie Irene Johnson Wheeler

Carrie Irene Johnson Wheeler, age 91, passed away on February 24, 2013 at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon. A Memorial service will be held at Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street on February 27, 2013 at 12:00PM, with The Reverends Jody and Julie Long officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, North Gate. Ms. Wheeler was born on April 12, 1921 in Sparta, Georgia and graduated from Sparta High School in 1939. She moved to Macon in 1947 where she was employed at Robins AFB in what was then the Directorate of Procurement. Ms. Wheeler was a member of the First Baptist Church of Christ and the Believer’s Sunday School Class. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, crafts, gardening, and shopping. She was an avid bridge player and a regular follower of Atlanta Braves baseball. Ms.

Ronald Dean Carbon, USAF (Ret)

Ronald Dean Carbon, 57, entered into rest on Thursday, September 27, 2012.

Ronald was born on October 23, 1954 in Newton, Kansas. He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church. Colonel Carbon proudly retired from the United States Air Force after twenty-one years of dedicated service to his country. Subsequent to his military career, he served as director of the 21st Century Partnership during the 2005 BRAC.

Bonnie R. Gardiner 1950-2012

 Macon-Bonnie R. Gardiner passed away June 20, 2012 at Pine Pointe Hospice. She was born in Macon on March 27, 1950 to John and Martha Richardson of Macon.

She attended A.L. Miller High School and graduated from Peach County High School. She had a degree in medical technology and attended Fort Valley State College where she studied in the veterinary assisting program. She worked with her husband at Greenwood Farm Veterinary Clinic for many years. She was a member of Martha Bowman Methodist Church.

Maria Luise Johnson 1936-2011


Ft. Valley, GA- Maria Luise Johnson, 75, of 334 Borders Road, died recently. Services will be private.

Mrs. Johnson loved her family and was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a caring and affectionate person and her family was her life.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her children, Glenn Dietz, Janet Hart, Caroline Johnson and Henry Dietz; seven grandchildren; sister, Ursula Feld.

Dorothy Marshall


Macon- Dorothy Marshall, 78, of 2521 Holly Bluff Lane, died Tuesday, August 23, 2011. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 10:00AM at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Steve Hamrick officiating. The family may be contacted at the residence of Lisa Burns, 2517 Holly Bluff Lane and will greet friends on Friday from 5:00PM until 6:30PM at Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street.

Mrs. Marshall, daughter of the late Shield L. Bozeman and the late Laura Hardie Bozeman, was the wife of the late Aaron Marshall. She was predeceased by her daughter, Debbie Gordon.

Mrs. Marshall is survived by her daughters, Linda Edwards (Prentiss) of Macon and Sherry Barfoot of Byron; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Sherwood of Macon and Frances Gibbs of Gordon.
