Roberta, Byron Under Heat Advisory Wednesday

A heat advisory is in effect for much of Middle Georgia this afternoon. Highs will be around 100, and the heat index (how hot it feels) should range from 105-110. Make sure you stay hydrated if you must be outdoors today. Isolated afternoon storms should develop later, bringing some of us a little relief. --David Ernst, WMAZ Meteorologist

Crawford EMA to Audibly Test Sirens Weekly

Crawford EMA to Audibly Test Sirens Weekly

Crawford County Emergency Management Agency begins texting the outdoor warning siren system on a weekly basis in July.

THey already test the sirens silently, thanks to a silent testing program, but will begin an audible test weekly, as recommended by the Georgia Emergency Management Agency in the "Outdooring Warning Sirens Operation and Testing" guidelines.

Crawford will audibly test the sirens on the first  Wednesday of every month, beginning July 4.

The monthly test will take place at 11:30 a.m.

[Outdoor warning sirens are intended to alert those who are outdoors to potential severe weather events; they are not designed to be heard inside a structure, especially modern structures that typically feature high insulation values. ]
