Byron Road Closures Planned for 5K Race

Byron Road Closures Planned for 5K Race

Byron's Susan G Komen 5K Race for the Cure on Saturday, October 19, will close a few roads starting at 8 a.m.

Other roadways will begin closing around 8:45 a.m. according to a Byron Police news release.

Race participants can park behind Byron Elementary and Byron Middle schools. Parking won't be allowed on White Road.

The following roads will be closed:

  • White Road from Peavy and James E Williams to GA 49
  • Walker Road from Allred to White Road
  • Majestic Oak Circle
  • Willow Oak Way
  • Red Oak Road from Willow Oak Way to White Road

Road Maintenance Scheduled in Peach County

Routine road maintenance has been scheduled through Dooly, Houston, Macon, Peach, Pulaski, Bibb, Monroe and Twiggs counties this week, according to a news release from the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Most of this tentatively scheduled work will only mean a shoulder or median lane closure.

The road work is scheduled Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. as long as the weather allows.

Here's where to expect maintenance:

Dooly

--Mowing SR 27 and SR 230

Houston

--Litter pick-up along I-75 between mile markers 123 and 140

--Trimming overgrown vegetation along SR 11

Macon

Guardrail Repair Scheduled Near I-75 Exit 149

Guardrail Repair Scheduled Near I-75 Exit 149

Georgia Department of Transportation would like to alert motorists attention to crews working on I-75 this week.

They plan to replace guardrails on I-75 north and southbound between mile markers 152 and 153 Thursday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. near Exit 149, according to a release.

Saturday Road Race to Close Peach County Roads

Police will close roads during the Peach Regional Medical Center's road race Saturday.

Starting at 7:30 a.m. until around 11 a.m. when the road race finishes, the following roads will be closed, according to a release from Peach County Sheriff Terry Deese.

--Georgia Hwy 49 Northbound from Avery Drive to Ga. Hwy 247 connector
A detour will be routed onto Moseley Road to Newell Road to Hwy 49.

--Hwy 247 connector will be closed, both east and westbound from Powersville Road to Walker Road.

Westbound traffic will detour around the closure on to Walker Road to Kay Road to Powersville Road. 
Eastbound traffic will be detoured onto Powersville Road to Kay Road to Walker Road.

Police will direct traffic at each intersection.
