FVSU to Host Tryouts for High School Players

The Fort Valley State University (FVSU) Football Program will conduct open tryouts for high school seniors and recent graduates on Saturday, February 26 at 10 a.m. at Wildcat Stadium on the FVSU campus.

That is according to a FVSU news release.

All high school seniors and recent graduates interested in playing for the 2011 Wildcats Football Team are invited to attend.

“Our search for talented players who can contribute to the growth of our program doesn’t end with our traditional recruiting effort, said FVSU Head Coach Donald Pittman.  “We realize that there may be some high school players who may not have been heavily recruited and are still looking for opportunities to play on the next level.  This tryout will give us a chance to identify some players who may have slipped under the regular recruiting radar but are more than capable of playing at FVSU.”

FVSU Basketball Fans to Wear Pink

For Fort Valley State's basketball game Saturday, fans should wear pink.

By participating in the Women’s Basketball Coach Association’s (WBCA) 2011 “Pink Zone” Initiative, the Lady Wildcats Basketball Program will renew its commitment to increasing awareness about breast cancer, a Fort Valley State news release says.

The game is Saturday, February 19 at 6 p.m. at Fort Valley State.

The WBCA’s “Pink Zone” Initiative is a global, unified effort of the WBCA’s nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness across college campuses, in communities and beyond.
