A Back to School Consignment Sale takes place Saturday, July 30 from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. in the old school lunchroom on Mosley Rd. in Byron.

The sale also takes place on July 30 from 8-2 p.m. with half price on selected items.

June Unemployment Rates in Peach, Crawford

June Unemployment Rates in Peach, Crawford

The June unemployment rate in Peach County is 12.1 percent, according to a Georgia Department of Labor news release.

Crawford County's unemployment rate is 10.5 percent.

The lowest area rate, at 8.0 percent, was recorded in Warner Robins, while the highest, at 12.8 percent, was in the Heart of Georgia-Altamaha area near Dublin.

Georgia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 9.9 percent in June, up one-tenth of a percentage point from a revised 9.8 percent in May. The state’s jobless rate was 10 percent in June a year ago.

June marked the 47th consecutive month Georgia has exceeded the national unemployment rate, which is currently 9.2 percent, up from 9.1 percent in May.

Puppet Show at Jailhouse Park

You can check out a puppet show this weekend at Jailhouse Park.

The traditional storybook skits and skits on the history of Byron are scheduled for Saturday, July 23 at 11 a.m.

Kids will also be able to create their own puppets at the Puppet Creation Station at 10 a.m.

Veterans Job Fair

A Veterans Job Fair is scheduled for Thursday, July 21 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter, Miller-Murphy-Howard Building in Perry.

This event is sponsored by The Georgia Department of Labor and The Middle Georgia Employer Committee.

If you'd like to set up a table, the fee is $95 for a covered table, chairs and lunch for employer representatives.

Checks can be made payable to Middle Georgia Employer Committee.
