FVSU Presidential Finalists to Speak at Open Forums

 

This week, the Presidential Search and Screen Committee announced the finalists for Fort Valley State University’s ninth president. Four candidates will tell the FVSU family why they are best suited to lead Wildcat Nation. From May 28 to June 3, the finalists will present their cases during an hour-long forum, starting at 3:30 p.m., in the C.W. Pettigrew Center. The forums are open to the public.

“On behalf of the FVSU Presidential Search and Screen Committee, I am pleased to inform you that on May 17, we concluded our Neutral Site Interviews of the candidates invited to the First Round,” said Dr. Meigan M. Fields, chair of the committee. “We have selected four, highly qualified, experienced and talented individuals as our final slate of candidates for recommendation to University System of Georgia Chancellor Hank Huckaby and Larry Ellis, chair of the Special Regents’ Search Committee.”

Jones Elementary Students Experience Farm Life

Pre-K and kindergarten students at Jones Elementary School took part recently in Farm Day.

Guests Naomi Davis of Davis Farms in Roberta and Amy Bean of The Little Farm in Gray shared stories with students about life on a farm. Students had the opportunity to partake in a semi-farm experience with baby chicks, and fruit and vegetable planting.

Peach County School District will be recommended for District Accreditation as a Quality Institution with no stipulations by the AdvancED External Review Team.  The District completed the AdvancED Review Process April 28-May 1, 2013.

Robins to Play Ft. Valley State Army ROTC in Basketball Competition

 

Robins will hold a basketball game today at 1:00 pm at the base gym, culminating a month-long of activities in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.  

The game will feature the Ft Valley State Army ROTC “Wildcats versus the Robins base team. The Russell Elementary “Jumping Patriots” will provide half-time entertainment.

Peach County BOE Regular Called Board Meeting

Peach County Board of Education will meet in a Regular Board Meeting on April 9, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Administrative Offices of the Board of Education at 523 Vineville Street, Fort Valley, Georgia 31030.  The purpose of the meeting is to discuss general Board of Education business and Personnel matters.

 
Note:  The meeting time has been changed from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. due to the Funeral Service that will be held at 3:30 p.m. for Ms. Annette Ross, Peach County School District’s Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

'Fresh Prince of Bel Air' Actress Headlines FVSU Motivation Task Force

 

At Fort Valley State University’s annual Ralph P. Malone Youth Motivation Task Force, successful alumni return to The Valley to change the lives of high school and college students. For three days, they share stories about their professions and how they overcame challenges to make their dreams a reality.

During the April 16-18 event, a special guest will also challenge students to aim for the stars.
