Fort Valley State Basketball Sweeps Lane

FORT VALLEY- In their largest point production this season, the Lady Wildcats of Fort Valley State University (FVSU) raised their season record to an even 5-5 after defeating the Lady Dragons of Lane College tonight (Jan.3rd), 101-54.  The win was the second straight for FVSU and their first conference win.
Four Lady Wildcats scored in double figures including a career-high 31 points from junior guard Shytina Harley. She also tallied 14 rebounds.  Point guard D'Ambria Thomas finished with 15 points and four assists.  Jayme Gilbert had 12 points and six assists while freshman Katice Williams added 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Freshman Shereba Montgomery had a game-high 12 rebounds.
The win was the 622nd for FVSU Head Coach Lonnie Bartley who is just two wins away from becoming the All-Time Winningest Coach in the History of HBCU Women's Basketball.
The Lady Wildcats return to action on Saturday, Jan. 5th when they host the Thorobrettes of Kentucky State University at 2 p.m. in the HPE Arena on the FVSU campus.  The women's contest will be followed by men's action at 4 p.m.  General admission for the doubleheader is $10.00.
