22-Year-Old Dies in Crawford Co. Hunting Accident | News

Crawford County's coroner says a 22-year-old man was apparently killed by his father in a hunting accident Thursday night.
Coroner Allen O'Neal says the accident happened on Lindsey Road near Highway 42 and the Monroe County line.
According to Sergeant Tony Fox of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Patrick Stone, 50, of Byron, shot his son, Nathaniel, in the chest while the two men were deer hunting. Investigators say Patrick Stone thought he was shooting at a deer.
Sheriff Lewis S. Walker, in a news release, said deputies responded around 7:30 p.m. to a call about a person shot. The 22-year-old was taken to the Monroe County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to the release, the death is being investigated as a hunting incident and the sheriff's office is working with the Department of Natural Resources on the investigation.
