Byron re-elected Mayor Larry Collins for his third consecutive term.

As he waited for the results at city hall, his wife said the waiting never gets easier.

In the end, though, they celebrated a victory.

About 25 of his closest friends and family members welcomed Collins after he clinched another term.

"To the folks of Byron, many thanks for putting me back for another four years," said Collins.

He says he owes his success to the people he works with.

"We're going to do great things in the next four years, but the fact that I won is not necessarily a testament to me. It's a testament to the employees of the city of Byron," said Collins.

Friends say his kind heart and understanding nature makes him a good leader.

"He know how to talk to people, and he knows how to handle the business. He's been handling the business for years," said Jesse Collins.

As he celebrated, Collins recognized his challenger.

"I had a worthy opponent," he said. "A good friend of mine."

Mike Love jumped in the political arena to give the people of Byron change he said.

"It was a very close race, so apparently there were a lot of people out there who realize changes is coming," said Love. "I think it will now become a topic of conversation more and more."

With Collins winning by less than 100 votes, he says he's already looking towards the future.

"In the next four years, we're going to deal real heavily in to storm water utilities and recreation."

Just a few things on the agenda he's says, to help better the city of Byron.

Collins also served as city attorney and held the mayor's position for a few years in the 70's and 80's, he said.
