After almost five months, Dennis Eason made his first appearance in Peach County.

Eason was arrested in Alabama in January and finally extradited back to Georgia on Thursday.

"(With) the whole judicial process, we can't do anything without him here," Peach County Sheriff Terry Deese said. "So now that he's back in the state, that case will move forward."

Eason is one of six men charged in the murder of 8-year-old Jai'mel Anderson. The child was shot several times at the Indian Oaks Apartments on East Street.

His mother's boyfriend, Dejad Williams, is also charged because investigators believe he lured the five other men there by text, threatening them and challenging them to fight.

Eason is charged with five crimes including malice murder and felony murder.

We could not reach Anderson's mother, Tequila Hubbard, for comment., but 13WMAZ's did speak to Anderson's grandfather, Charles Wynn. He told us Tequila, and her two sons, Jai'mel and Jordan were living with Dejad Williams. Wynn says the family didn't know much about Williams before Jai'mel's death.

On Friday, Magistrate Judge Laurens Lee told Eason he couldn't set bond for the charges. But Eason agreed to have the case sent to Superior Court for a possible bond hearing.
