Woman killed in Byron housing project

Byron police are investigating a homicide.

They say Ratavious Canion stabbed his 20-year-old girlfriend to death today. He was arrested and charge with the murder of Destiny Clarke.

Byron Police found Clarke's body inside her home on Boy Scout road around 3 p.m. Friday.

Clarke's home today was surrounded by dozens of family members, friends and neighbors.

The crowd included Otis Smith, one of her coworkers at a local fast food restaurant.

He says the normally bubbly Clarke was different when they spoke just hours before she died.

"It was just something about this morning though because...you know...she'd usually be laughing or jiving or kicking me or something you know when she usually come in and we were just talking about this morning and I tried to tell her do not go to the house today. Go to her parents house...her mother's house," Smith said.

Police Chief Wesley Cannon says Clarke's three month old daughter was the only other person home at the time of the murder.
No one else was hurt, and they're still investigating.
