GBI investigates altercation at Roberta City Hall
News

According to a press release from the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating an argument between Roberta Police Chief Benjamin Thomas and the husband of the mayor of Roberta, Jack Smith.

Sheriff Lewis Walker made the decision to let the GBI handle the investigation. According to GBI special agent in charge J.T. Ricketson, witnesses say Smith entered city hall to file a complaint, but the forms weren't available and the computers were down at the time.

This is what led to the argument between Smith and Thomas, who witnesses told Ricketson have a history of altercations with each other. Ricketson says he is not aware of any documented history between the two.
