2nd Meeting Canceled on Possible Water Park

Warner Robins and Peach County have canceled a second meeting where they were expected to discuss a proposed a water park off Interstate 75.

Warner Robins and Peach officials were initially scheduled to meet Monday.

That meeting was first postponed, on about three hours' notice, to Wednesday, then put off again on Tuesday, according to two Warner Robins city council members involved.

The postponements came after Mayor Chuck Shaheen told the media that the meeting was about a proposed water park off Interstate 75.

He criticized council members who he said have been meeting secretly about the project with an out-of-town developer.

Shaheen says they planned to discuss the proposed park off Vietnam Veterans Parkway, which runs parallel to Interstate 75 between Watson Boulevard and Russell Parkway.

Council members Mike Brashear and Mike Daley would only confirm that the meeting would be discussing development on the road.

Both Shaheen and the council members agree that the project is in the early planning stages, and some issues still need to be worked out, including financing and the exact location.
