Peach County High 1982 Reunion Set for October

 The Peach County High School Class of 1982 has their 30th Class Reunion during the weekend of PCHS homecoming. October 19th is the tailgating and game.

Saturday is the banquet at the American Legion on HWY 49 in Fort Valley.

The cost is $40.00 for singles and $75.00 for couples. Make checks payable to PCHS Class of 1982 Reunion, P. O. Box 46, Fort Valley, GA.

Representative Robert Dickey to Visit Local Schools for Constitution Day

In celebration of Constitution Day, Georgia's 5th grade youth at Crawford County Elementary School and Kay Road Elementary in Byron will receive a visit from Representative Robert Dickey.

That's according to a Georgia Federation of Republican Women news release.

Hambone Jam BBQ Competition Returns to Peach County

The weekend of BBQ and competition all rolled into one returns during the Hambone Jam!

That's on September 7-8.

Friday, everything will be up and running by 4:30 and a band performs from 8-11 p.m.

Folks can walk around, enjoy the sites and smells of people cooking. People can purchase BBQ and food from vendors, but will not be able to taste test from the BBQ competition itself.

Bounce houses and other activities will be on site for kids to enjoy.

On Saturday, locals can enter their cars for a Cruise-In starting at 8 a.m. Entrance and showing your car is free.

BBQ judging takes place around 4:30 p.m.

A Norfolk Southern exhibit car from the 1920s will also roll in for Friday's events. Fort Valley was one of 11 chosen cities for this visit, according to event coordinator Kathie Lambert.

Students Invited to FVSU for 4-H Field Day, Football Game

 

Fort Valley, Ga. - FFA advisors, 4-H leaders and youth groups are urged to gather their students for the 2 p.m. 4-H/FFA Ag Field Day Sept. 22 at Fort Valley State University.

The purpose of the event is to introduce middle and high school students to majors offered by FVSU’s College of Agriculture, Family Sciences and Technology. The $5 registration fee includes a T-shirt, a meal and a ticket to the FVSU versus Benedict College football game at 6 p.m. The registration deadline is Sept.10.

Scheduled activities at Founders Hall include video gaming, football toss, corn hole toss and ladder ball. Students can also see a biofuel-making demonstration and tour FVSU’s Life on the Farm exhibition, which has animals to teach students about agriculture.
