Habitat for Humanity Receives Grant to Build Three-Bedroom Home

REYNOLDS/WARNER ROBINS/UPATOI – Flint Energies in partnership with CoBank donated $5,000 to Houston County Habitat for Humanity.  The grant will allow the purchase of all the lumber needed to build a three-bedroom home.

The grant was given in part by CoBank’s “Sharing Success” matching grant program.  This program allows Colorado-based CoBank to join cooperative customers like Flint Energies from all over the US in building vibrant rural communities.

Flint Energies CEO Bob Ray stated, “Our commitment to community has been one of the cornerstones of our cooperative’s foundation and success.  Today, we are showing that commitment in action by donating funds to Houston County Habitat to ensure a foundation for successful homeownership.”

Meet Me at the Mistletoe Market

Meet Me at the Mistletoe Market

I feel a little bit like an elf this week as I am scurrying around finishing preparations for my booth at this weekend’s Mistletoe Market. To me it is the beginning of the holiday season here in Middle Georgia and I loved seeing all the great products everyone was selling, visiting with friends and making new ones!

For those of you who don’t live in Middle Georgia, Mistletoe Market is a Christmas marketplace sponsored by the Balvaunuca Club. The club donates their proceeds from the sale to worthy community organizations. In 2011 they gave away $40,000! This year it is being held in its new location in the Miller-Murphy-Howard building at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry on November 16-18.
