Fort Valley State University announced Tuesday that the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools voted to affirm the school's full accreditation. The action came during SACS annual meeting in Dallas.
During last year's meeting the organization placed FVSU on warning status because of issues involving faculty credential, financial aid and specified fiscal procedures.
In a news release from the university, President Larry Rivers says that FVSU will "maintain and build upon its current standing". When Rivers became president in March, 2006, enrollment at FVSU had dropped to less than 2,000. Despite a decline this fall, the number of students had increased to nearly 3, 600 students.
FVSU is a member institution of the University System of Georgia and the state's only 1890 land-grant institution.
