Peach School Board Votes To Privatize Bus Service

Peach County Transportation employees will soon be under new management.

Tuesday the school board voted to contract transportation service for the school system to Durham School Services.

According to a press release from the board office, the decision was made due to the decline in funds as operation costs continue to increase.

The release states that no employee has been terminated and that all current Peach transportation employees will have first option to positions with Durham School Services.

Durham spokesman Blaine Krage says he could not confirm if employees would keep their jobs without seeing Peach County's contract with the company.

Durham School Services is based in Illinois and employs more than 17,000 people in 32 states.

No date has been set for the Peach transition to take place.
