Crawford Deputy Suspended During Investigation | Crime
A deputy with the Crawford County Sheriff's Office is suspended with pay while the department conducts an internal investigation.
According to a release from Crawford Sheriff Lewis Walker, the deputy was involved in an incident at a bar in Spalding County.
The incident report from Spalding County states there was a large fight at the Country Rock Bar, located on North Expressway in Spalding County. Deputies responded and were trying to assist victims of the fight and clear out the parking lot.
A Spalding Deputy was helping an ambulance trying to back up and exit with a patient, but there was a white male talking to the driver, preventing the ambulance from leaving. When the deputy told the man to leave, he was ignored. When the deputy confronted the man, he cursed at him.
At that point, the report states that the man was restrained and arrested.
Then the man told the deputies, "I am the police." As confirmed by Sheriff Lewis Clark, Scott Richard Bruce is a Crawford County deputy.
Bruce was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction of an officer.
The report states that Bruce was highly intoxicated. He was not on duty at the time of the incident and not driving a patrol vehicle.
Bruce is suspended with pay while the internal investigation continues.
