Roberta-Crawford Christmas is the Square

The Roberta-Crawford County Christmas in the Historic Square will be held Saturday, December 7th starting at 10 a.m. David Bailey Park will be filled with vendors selling holiday gifts, ornaments and more while the Chamber of Commerce will be serving holiday cookies and hot chocolate. 

Parade will start at 4 p.m. The Annual Christmas Tree Lighting will follow, along with a visit from Santa. 

Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the wonderful small town holiday fun!

DNR aims to increase quail population

DNR aims to increase quail population

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources says they hope a partnership with numerous organizations in the state will boost the quail population.

Earlier this evening several groups signed the Georgia Bobwhite Quail Technical Team Memorandum of Agreement.

It's a mouthful, but what it means is that, DNR will provide free help to farmers or land owners that want to tailor their landscape to make it more quail friendly.

The Byron police department were honored with three awards at the Governor's Office of Highway Safety Governor's Challenge Banquet last week.

Chief Wesley Cannon is pleased to announce that the Byron Police Department won three awards at the annual Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) Governor’s Challenge Banquet on November 15, 2013.

The Governor’s Challenge awards program is a statewide awards program that recognizes excellent law enforcement traffic safety programs.

The program provides law enforcement agencies with an opportunity to make a difference in the communities they serve and allows agencies to learn from one another and establish future goals in traffic safety enforcement and education.

Crawford County hit-and-run victim dies

Crawford County hit-and-run victim dies

A man on a bicycle involved in a Crawford County hit and run accident Tuesday has died.

Ricky Dennis Bacchus, 36, of Lizella, was pronounced dead at the Medical Center of Central at 8:46 a.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the Crawford County Sheriff's Office.

A "person of interest" has come forward, but the sheriff's office is withholding their named citing an "ongoing investigation," the news release stated.
