Crimestoppers Luncheon

The Rotary Club of Centerville hosts the fifth annual David Pierce Memorial Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 18th at the Museum of Aviation, Century of Flight Building to benefit Crimestoppers and its Student Crimestoppers programs. Governor Sonny Perdue will be the guest speaker.

"In 2010, Macon Regional Crimestoppers' tipsters offered information leading to the arrests of 428 arrests from Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Houston, Jones, Monroe, Peach and Twiggs counties on various charges.  More than $22,000.00 in stolen property was recovered, and more than $2,500.00 worth of drugs was seized.

Those tips, which resulted in a payout of about $62,500.00 in rewards, were made possible because of the donations to the nonprofit organization. The program allows callers to remain anonymous when submitting tips on wanted people in an eight county area and receive up to a $1,000.00 upon the wanted person's arrest.

Pierce served as a Houston County Magistrate Court judge and as an assistant governor over the Rotary Club district that includes Centerville. The Centerville Club sponsors the luncheon and also asks business owners, groups and individuals to sponsor tables for the event to raise funds for Macon Regional Crimestoppers.

In addition to raising funds for a cause, the luncheon affords Crimestoppers an opportunity to thank supporters.
