A newly-awarded grant is expected to help local produce land in the Peach County lunch program.
According to a news release, the United States Department of Agriculture awarded a $99,992 grant to Community Health Works to serve Peach County.
CHW's Farm to School Childhood Obesity program will offer Peach County Schools more locally-grown, nutritious food items to students K-12.
CHW projects that the Peach County Farm to School Program will reach about 4,000 students in an area that serves 73 percent of meals free or at a reduced rate.
