Krispy Kreme featuring Southern doughnuts

(WXIA) -- Krispy Kreme has rolled out two new doughnuts inspired by popular Southern dishes.

The Southen Summer Classics offerings will be available through Sunday, Aug. 31 at participating locations. They include:

Banana Pudding
A moist shell doughnut filled with banana Kreme filling, topped with a yellow icing that hints of the flavors inside and a vanilla wafer topping

CGTC Board of Directors Chair elected

Houston County retired superintendent was also elected to the vice chair position for 2014-2015.

Twiggs County resident and retired educator, Sarah Hawthorne, was named as the chair of CGTC's Board of Directors.

According to a release, she also served as the vice chair of the Board in the past year, when CGTC and MGTC merged.

She'll serve a one-year term.

CGTC's board of directors is comprised of a group of business leaders from the eleven counties CGTC serves in Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Dooly, Houston, Jones, Monroe, Peach, Pulaski, Putnam and Twiggs counties.

CGTC Titans hosting camp for Twiggs County youth

50 Twiggs County kids will participate in a week-long basketball camp at the Macon Promise Center.

Central Georgia Technical College Titans put on the camp and kids will also hear speeches from retired FVSU coach Lonnie Brantley as well as a former NBA player Sharone Wright, according to a release.

Students who attend will also get to tour the CGTC campus.

Robins Federal Credit Union branch raised over $9,000 in Peach Co. for Cancer Research

Fort Valley, GA — Robins Federal Credit Union’s Fort Valley branch sold candy bars and held other fundraisers in the months leading up to the Relay for Life event in Peach county raising $9,171.00 for the American Cancer Society.

Funds raised will be used to fight cancer through research, education, patient services, advocacy and rehabilitation. Relay for Life is a community event to celebrate those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones, and fight back against this disease.
