The Georgia Department of Labor announced today that the preliminary unemployment rate in Peach County was 10.9 percent in May.

Peach County is one of 67 Georgian counties above 10 percent. Crawford County had a 9.5 percent unemployment rate in May.

That's compared to Georgia's overall unemployment rate of 8.9 percent.

Metro Macon rose to 9.4 percent in May, up three-tenths of a percentage point from 9.1 percent in April, a Georgia Department of Labor news release says.

The rate was 10.1 percent in May 2011. 

Overall, Georgia's unemployment rate remained unchanged from April to May in 2011 and is down from May 2010, where the unemployment rate was 9.8 percent.

REYNOLDS – Patrick “Pat” Braski of Warner Robins, Ga. has been appointed to serve with the Flint Energies Board of Directors. He will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Jeff S. Pierce Jr. of Warner Robins, who retired from the Co-op’s board after 47 years of service.  Braski will represent Area VII, Post 1 – City of Warner Robins on the Board. Inside Warner Robins, Post 2 is currently held by Paul Hibbitts and Post 3 is held by Arthur Head.

Braski is the Owner and Operator of two Chick-fil-A restaurant locations in Warner Robins, one on Watson Blvd. and the other on Hwy. 96.  Fully immersed in community service, he is a Eucharistic minister, youth leader and retreat coordinator for Sacred Heart Church. In addition, he coaches basketball for Sacred Heart School.  Braski is the Legacy of Lights Show Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity and is involved with his entire family in the Houston County 4-H.
