HOUSTON COUNTY, GA – Flint Energies has won the Georgia Association of Elementary School Principals (GAESP) 2012 Educational Patron Award for District 11. As a district winner, Flint Energies is a finalist for the Georgia Distinguished Educational Patron Award. Flint was nominated by Eagle Springs Elementary School Principal Dr. Andrea McGee. The award will be presented at the GAESP Fall Principals Conference on Nov. 3, 2012, at St. Simons Island. The state winner will also be announced for the first time.
GAESP consists of 16 districts. Each district may select an outstanding educational supporter for this award. An excerpt from the nomination packet for Flint follows.
“Flint Energies is a true friend of education, which is reflected by its commitment of resources to K-12 public education and the fact that Flint employees continually make positive contributions to our schools and community as a whole. The relationship between our schools and Flint goes back more than 60 years, and that relationship continues to flourish and mature.
Flint Energies currently serves 33 of our system’s 38 schools plus several other system buildings through hundreds of accounts. In addition to reliable, cost-effective electrical service, Flint helps meet our schools’ needs in the following areas: (1) monetary support for academic and extracurricular programs to supplement budgets due to state and federal funding cuts; (2) support of our system’s national, award-winning energy management program to encourage conservation and prevent a rise in our energy budget; (3) volunteers share their expertise in certain skill areas; and (4) assistance with funding, planning and constructing new infrastructure to keep pace with our school system’s growth.”
