FORT VALLEY, GA. - The documentary film ‘Bully’ is sparking controversy and interest across the nation. The movie– targeted at teens and their parents – follows several, real-life bully victims for one year; then examines the problem’s root causes and the negative social and psychological aftermath.

On Thursday and Friday, April 12 -13, Fort Valley State University students will present research and solutions to school bullying and other topics during the 32nd Annual Banks-Pierro-Rutland-Bellamy Colloquium. The annual awards luncheon, which takes place noon, April 13 in the Student Amenities Building’s second-floor banquet room—is the pinnacle of the two-day social and behavioral sciences forum. Organizers will honor three distinguished alums, and two outstandingstudents will win tuition scholarships.

Join Fort Valley Main Street/DDA for a celebration reception as the community of Fort Valley thanks Renee Caira for the donation of the Passenger Depot in honor of her late husband, Steve M. Caira.

The Program will include a presentation of a bronze building plaque.

Stop by and tour the Passenger Depot. 

A table top display of historical railroad data and model railroading will on display compliments of the Central of Georgia Railway Historical Society.

Battle of Byron's Womanless Pageant Benefits Local Charities

BYRON, GA.--It's not often you find hairy legs at a beauty pageant.

At this womanless pageant, you will.

It's all a part of the Womanless Pageant hosted by the Battle of Byron Saturday, April 7. The pageant starts at 7 p.m. at the Byron Municipal Complex Auditorium.

Admission is $5 and proceeds will be donated to a local non-profit. Children 12 and under are free.

Then on May 5, the actual Battle of Byron happens at North Peach Park.
