Georgia National Fair Announces Free Concert Lineup

The Georgia National Fair announces the band lineup for the free outdoor concert via Facebook Friday morning:

Good morning Fair Fans! We are excited to announce the bands for the free outdoor concert during Sneak-a-Peek, October 4. Do you like funk? Remember "Pick Up The Pieces" and "Cut The Cake?" The Average White Band will rock us out! And the ever popular band, The Grapevine, will start the concert at 7:00 p.m. To start the toe tapping

Byron Silent Birdhouse Auction

 

BYRON, GA.--Join the Byron Convention and Visitors Bureau and Welcome Center  on Saturday March 31st from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. for a silent birdhouse auction. 

Come out for refreshments, bid on one-of-a-kind birdhouse creations and meet the artists! 

Proceeds from the auction benefit the Battle of Byron and The Cow and The Calf Art Gallery.

Shelby West Pottery

Local potter, Shelby West, will be turning Crawford County clay into beautiful works of art on his foot powered treadle wheel in the backyard garden of the Cannonball House on Saturday, March 17th beginning at 10 a.m. 

Come and see how potters of yesteryear plied their trade and have the opportunity to talk to Shelby as he works. 

He will have his artwork available for purchase where you can find items both large and small for that speical place in your home.

Byron Better Hometown Meeting Tonight

Byron Better Hometown Community meeting is set for tonight, Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Historic Train Depot, the Byron Better Hometown Facebook page says.

They'll discuss projects and goals for the Byron Better Hometown and also ways in which community members can be involved and have an input in decisions happening downtown.

The 2012 26th Annual Peach Festival is set for June 1-9. The festival takes place annually in Byron and Fort Valley.

'Georgia's Longest Yard Sale' Kicks Off

 

 ROBERTA, GA.-- Crawford County is a part of Georgia’s longest yard sale, the Peaches to the Beaches Yard Sale this weekend.

That's on March 9-10 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. both days along US Highway 341, a news release says.

You can find the 17 participating Roberta vendors at the David Bailey Memorial Park.
