On Nov. 20, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Merritt Pottery Festival will take place at 400 E Agency St. in Roberta.

Vendors will range from folk potters, quilters, basket weavers and folk artists.

Mark and Coni Merritt began this festival after traveling around to other festivals and realized they could start their own in Roberta.

Mark is a sixth generation county potter. He creates traditional and utilitarian items such as jugs and pitchers. Mark learned the craft from his father, who started Lizella Clay Company.

"Mark is obviously the better potter, but I do all the glazing," Merritt said.

Merritt says they do all their traveling to pottery festival in the spring and summer.

"This will probably be our last festival until March," Merritt said.
