Robins Air Force Base Gate Closure to Impact Traffic

Gate 3, the Watson Boulevard gate, will close for two months for the same security improvements done on the Green Street and Russell Parkway gates earlier this year according to the Robins Air Force Base Office of Public Affairs.

Gate 3 will close from Nov. 22 to Jan. 21 for installation of pop-up barriers. During the closure, the Martin Luther King gate will assume the Watson Boulevard gate’s 24/7 hours of operation.

The Visitor’s Center will remain open during the Gate 3 closure. Visitors will have to get back on Highway 247 and enter the base through one of the other gates.

Once the gate reopens, Perry Street access from Watson will permanently close except during peak traffic hours. Bollards, the movable barriers used to block gate lanes at certain times, will close off the street during non-peak hours for security reasons. The Perry Street access from Watson will be open from 6:30 to 8 a.m. and 4 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Except for Gate 5, hours of the other gates will remain the same during the Watson gate closure. Those are the Green Street gate, from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays; the Russell Parkway gate from 4:30 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday and 5 a.m. to midnight on weekends and holidays; and the Georgia National Guard gate, inbound only from 5:30-8 a.m. and outbound only from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
